Backbar tracks stock for a multi-store retailer as an append-only ledger of movements:
receipts, sales, transfers, shrink, adjustments. Every number on this page is a
SUM(quantity) over that ledger. There is no quantity column to drift, and
every write carries an idempotency key so a retried scanner or a replayed point-of-sale
message cannot move the same case twice.
